Dr. Al Van Engen
Dr. Van Engen started out at Iowa University graduating in 1984 with a B.S. in Pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for 6 years before attending veterinary school at Iowa State University. Al received his D.V.M. in 1995 and started working at Central Veterinary Clinic in 1997. He is married to his wife Sue who herself is a part-time pharmacist. They have two boys together named Nick and Matt. Nick recently graduated from ISU and is attending veterinary school at his alma mater in the fall of 2013. Matt attends Sioux Center High School. Their family has one dog, Janey, who has performed admirably as the clinic’s resident blood donor for other dogs. They live on an acreage outside of Sioux Center and have a pure bred Simmental cow-calf operation. In his free time Dr. Van Engen enjoys playing golf, showing Simmentals with his boys, and attending his kid’s activities.

Dr. Todd Trigg
Dr. Trigg graduated from South Dakota State University with an Animal Science degree. He then attended the University of Minnesota for his training in veterinary medicine where he received his D.V.M. Todd joined Central Veterinary Clinic in 2000. He and his wife Dawn have 5 children together: Alexondrea, Zara, Chase, Leila, and Diana. The Trigg’s live on an acreage outside of Hawarden and have a large garden and a small petting zoo. They have 2 dogs (Junker and Dot) and several cats, including Lovely, Butterscotch, and Walter. In his free time Todd enjoys raising his livestock, attending his kid’s activities, schooling his son Chase in basketball, and doing crazy cartoon voices.

Dr. Richard McManimon
Dr. McManimon completed undergraduate courses at Winona State University. He then attended and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Rich joined Central Veterinary Clinic in 2001 working as a production animal veterinarian ever since. Rich is married and lives just outside of Sioux Center with his wife and three wonderful children. On their farm they have a number of animals including cats, chickens, horses, and a dog. In his free time he enjoys attending all his children’s activities.

Dr. Brian Cuperus
Dr. Cuperus attended Minnesota West Community College and St. Paul campus of University of Minnesota before being accepted into veterinary school at the University of Minnesota. He graduated from veterinary school in May 2003 and has been working at Central Veterinary Clinic ever since as a production animal veterinarian. Brian and his wife Rebecca live on an acreage outside of Sioux Center with their three Drahthaar Wirehair Pointers (Gus, Karl, Nate). In his free time Brian enjoys all types of hunting (Pheasant, Deer, Turkey, Elk), training his dogs, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Beau Bosma
Dr. Bosma earned his undergraduate degree from Dordt College and graduated veterinary school from Iowa State University. He has worked at Central Veterinary Clinic as a production animal veterinarian since May 2006. Beau is married to his wife Erin and they have 3 boys together (Clayton, Braeden, Dylan). They live on an acreage just outside of Sioux Center with their new puppy Max. In his free time Beau enjoys farming, watching his kids’ sporting events, playing golf, and fast pitch softball.

Dr. Matt Boogerd
Dr. Boogerd graduated from Dordt College in 2003 with a degree in business administration. He then attended veterinary school at Iowa State University graduating in 2011. Matt began working at the clinic in 2011 with an emphasis in production animal medicine. Matt and his wife Janey have 3 kids and a Beagle named Bailey all of whom currently reside in Sioux Center. In his spare time Matt enjoys hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors.

Dr. Zach Wilcox
Dr. Wilcox grew up on a family owned dairy farm near Marcus, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Iowa State University in 2007 with a degree in Animal Science. Zach remained at Iowa State University to complete his veterinary degree in 2012. He started at Central Veterinary Clinic in May 2012 practicing both companion and production animal medicine. Zach is married to his wife Lisa and they have a son, Liam, and a daughter, Nora. They live in Sioux Center with their Weimaraner named Joanie and cat named Evie. In his free time he enjoys choral singing, attending ISU athletic/artistic events, golfing, and spending time with his family & friends.

Dr. Tyler Feldhacker
Dr. Feldhacker was raised on a family-owned farm south of Ireton, Iowa. He completed a bachelor degree in Biology at Iowa State University in 2009, and remained at Iowa State and completed his veterinary degree in 2013. Following graduation he practiced in Cascade, Iowa at a mixed animal clinic before returning to Northwest Iowa and joining Central Veterinary Clinic in August of 2014. His focus at Central Veterinary Clinic is in both production and companion animal medicine. He and his wife, Brette, currently have one son, Emmett, and a daughter, Logan. In his free time, Tyler enjoys woodworking, carpentry, working with his cattle, cheering on the Cyclones and spending time with his family & friends.

Dr. Nate Bos
Dr. Nate Bos grew up in southwest Minnesota. He completed both his undergraduate degree in Animal Science and veterinary degree at the University of Minnesota. Following graduation from vet school in 2019, Nate worked at a bovine practice in Caldwell, Idaho before starting at Central Veterinary Clinic in 2020. His areas of interest includes dairy production management, milk quality, parlor management, and transition cow management. In his spare time, Nate enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and helping on the family dairy.

Dr. Lawton De Jong
I was born and raised in Orange City Iowa where I grew up working with livestock on my family’s farm. I attended Northwestern College and graduated in 2016 with a degree in Agri-Business management. After graduation, I worked at the Orange City Veterinary Clinic as a Swine Production field man for a year and a half before returning to veterinary school. I graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022 and began working at Central Veterinary Clinic shortly after graduation. I am married to my wife Heather and we have two boys, Case and Bennett. In my free time, I enjoy working on the family farm, watching and attending sporting events, fishing, or anything outdoors.

Dr. Sharon Kortlever
Dr. Kortlever received her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1983 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 1987. She has worked at Central Veterinary Clinic as a small animal veterinarian since 1999. She and her husband live on an acreage outside of Sioux Center with their 3 kids Drew, Clare, and Tara. Together they have a family English Bulldog named Nellie. When she is not at the clinic, you can usually find her attending her kids’ many sporting & school events.

Dr. Jodi Pollema
Jodi Pollema (Ver Burg) grew up on a beef cattle and row crop farm north of Rock Valley. While she had to help work cattle occasionally, her true passion resided with the dogs and cats. After graduating from Western Christian High School, she headed to Brookings for two years of undergraduate studies at South Dakota State University. She married her husband, Carter, between undergrad and vet school at Iowa State, graduating in 2021. They now live back in Rock Valley with a daughter and son, Marlee and Mattias, and their furry family member, CJ. In her free time, Jodi enjoys riding bike and swimming in the summer and skiing in the winter. You can also catch her watching the latest bachelor tv show or listening to Taylor Swift!
