Surgery

At Central Veterinary Clinic our doctors perform a variety of surgeries including but not limited to spays/neuters, tumor removal, biopsies, abdominal surgeries, declaws, and some orthopedic procedures. We recommend in-house blood work before any procedure to ensure your pet is a good candidate for surgery. We will sit down with you and explain the complications and possible outcomes of the surgery so you are comfortable before and after the procedure.

Pain medication is given before, during, and after the procedure to ensure that your pet is comfortable. Your pet is monitored throughout the entire surgery by a registered veterinary technician evaluating heart rate, blood oxygen saturation levels, respiratory rate, and temperature. Once out of surgery your pets will wake up and rest in one of our quiet hospital wards with some pets needing to stay overnight depending on the procedure. We will call you after the surgery with updates on how everything went.

If you have already scheduled an appointment here are some things to remember:

  • No food after 8:00pm the day before the surgery with no restrictions on water being needed.

  • Your pet can be dropped off the day of their surgery between 7:30-8:00am.

  • Notify us of any medications your pet has received before the surgery. Working together we can provide a safe but necessary service for your pet.
